What Is an RFID Hangtag?

An RFID Hangtag is a rigid or semi-rigid tag attached to garments and accessories via a loop, string or plastic fastener — the same format as a conventional price tag, but with an embedded UHF RFID inlay inside.

A single handheld reader can scan hundreds of items per minute without line-of-sight, turning a full stockroom count from a half-day task into a ten-minute sweep. The same tag carries the EPC identifier used for inventory, the barcode for POS, and optional NFC for consumer-facing brand authentication — all on one tag.

Available in paper, PVC and recycled-material substrates. Full custom print: brand logo, care instructions, price, barcode and QR code in one production run.

Where RFID Hangtags Are Used

From fast-fashion chains to luxury boutiques — wherever garments need to be counted, protected and authenticated at speed.

Retail Inventory & Stock Counting

Staff walk the sales floor or stockroom with a handheld UHF reader and capture every item’s EPC in seconds — no removing garments from rails, no manual scanning one by one. Cycle counts that once took hours now complete before the store opens. Real-time stock accuracy feeds directly into the ERP or OMS, eliminating phantom inventory and reducing out-of-stock events on the shop floor.

Supply Chain & Fulfilment Tracking

Tag garments at the factory or distribution centre and track every unit from production through to the store rail. Receiving teams verify inbound shipments against purchase orders in under a minute — no manual count, no discrepancy disputes. Returns processing is equally fast: scan the returned item, confirm authenticity, and route it back to stock automatically.

More Applications

Frequently Asked Questions

Standard hangtags are not designed for washing — they are removed at POS. If wash-survival is required, consider our RFID laundry labels instead, which are rated for 200+ industrial wash cycles.
Yes. The printed face carries a standard GS1 barcode (EAN-13 or Code 128) and the embedded inlay carries the matching EPC. Both encode the same product identifier, so legacy barcode scanners and RFID readers work side by side during any transition period.
We supply tags with Impinj Monza, NXP UCODE and Alien Higgs chipsets. For NFC dual-frequency (UHF + HF), NTAG and MIFARE options are available. Confirm your reader infrastructure before specifying a chip.
We can encode EPCs to your GS1 SGTIN scheme at the factory, or supply blank tags for in-house encoding. Sequential numbering and custom EPC ranges are both supported — provide your encoding spec with your order.
Yes. We offer hangtags on FSC-certified recycled card and kraft paper. These are popular with brands that publish sustainability commitments. The RFID inlay and print quality are identical to standard substrates.
